I have always been a healthy weight and conscious and informed about nutrition. In the past few years I found myself in a rut where unhealthy food and lifestyle choices have made me pack on the pounds, not to mention the 10 pound gain per decade that tends to add up to an alarming number by the time you are in your late 50's.
I have tried weight loss programs such as Weight Watchers, Atkins and others and not only did those programs frustrate me with food diaries and calorie counting but I also have a list of food allergies that made the food / meal plans impossible to follow. I embraced your program because I thought it might also address my food allergies and put me on a healthy eating path that I could sustain.
Besides weight loss goals I have not only the food allergies but I have been treated for fibromyalgia and accompanying symptoms for over 20 years. I have tried to ignore that diagnosis and denied the symptoms in favour of trying to overcome by trying to follow a healthy lifestyle. I always knew that certain foods whether they were on my allergic list or not, caused me to have stomach unsettled feelings - a constant awareness of discomfort. After one week of following your program that issue completely disappeared for the first time ever. That was more rewarding to me than the weight loss. I also noticed increased energy and decreased joint pain and accompanying symptoms of fibromyalgia. I feel great, more energy and enjoy trying new foods and recipes. My overall goal is a weight loss of 40 lbs and so far, after 6 weeks, I have lost 15 lbs (where in past diets I just gave up altogether) and that is while really enjoying a new way of eating - and no feeling of depravation whatsoever.
The plant based diet is a great way to good health but for me I feel it doesn't have to be 100%. My goal is to follow it at home and in situations I can control, (I am following 85 to 90% of the time) but not to stress in situations where I have to or chose to eat meat, fish or dairy.
My goal - not just weight loss - I want to hit my 60's feeling and looking good and in the best possible health. Thank you for putting me on the right path."
